The Department of Veterans Affairs is proposing changes to the Veteran-Owned Small Business (VOSB) Verification Program.

The National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2017 (“the NDAA”), Public Law 114-840, placed the responsibility for issuing regulations relating to ownership and control for the verification of VOSBs with the United States Small Business Administration (SBA). This proposed regulation seeks to remove all references to ownership and control and to add and clarify certain terms and references that are currently part of the verification process. Minnesota Increases State Spending with Veteran-Owned Businesses

Since 2015, spending on Minnesota state contracts with veteran-owned businesses increased 275 percent – from $1.8 million to more than $6.8 million in 2017. This increase follows Governor Dayton’s push to make sure state government is accessible to and reflective of all Minnesotans. “We are working hard to ensure that state government better reflects the rich diversity of Minnesota, and is accessible to all Minnesotans,” said Minnesota Gov.
