University Spotlight:

With generous support given by The Prudential Foundation to research racial equity, veterans, and employee buyouts of retiring business owners, the Rutgers NJ/NY Center for Employee Ownership recently published a report: Understanding the Opportunities for Employee Ownership Among Minority Veteran-Owned Businesses.

This report highlights the current state of minority veteran business owners nearing retirement age and available strategies for business succession planning that can benefit owners, employees, and local communities. We invite you to
view the report and share it with other owners and organizations that support this community.

For those who are interested in further guidance about succession planning, our Center, with support from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, has teamed up with the Democracy at Work Institute to develop a free Employee Ownership Online Education Program that allows individuals to learn at their own pace about two proven succession strategies—an employee stock ownership plan (ESOP) or a worker cooperative. Through a series of easy-to-navigate modules, the program content is delivered by instructors sharing their real-world experience, with a focus on the community of business owners of color. You are invited to access this FREE program by registering below!
