Elton served in the US Marine Corps Reserve (USMCR) and US Army Reserve (USAR) for a total of 37 years. Elton became a disabled veteran due to an injury suffered while parachuting in 1988 that required surgery.


Amerivet Securities, Inc., was started by incorporating the company on August 6, 1993. The company was started on a borrowed $1150 (the cost to incorporate) and is now a $6 million company.

Amerivet Securities, Inc., has been in business for 25+ years. It is the second oldest Service-Disabled Veteran Owned broker-dealer in existence. On October 22, NaVOBA celebrated the Minority Veteran's Business Enterprise of the Year Awards Ceremony during the 2024 National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC) Conference in Atlanta. Hosted at Cuts Steakhouse, a sponsor of the event alongside Accenture, Shell, and Hilton, the event was complete with a full course meal, drinks, and networking. The program then went on to highlight two companies who have demonstrated excellence within their industries with the 2024 Veteran's Business Enterprise (VBE)® We Love Awards. The first VBE We Love Award went to Demond Crump, CEO of REIGN Premium Sanitary Napkins.
