About the Business - God, Family, Company

What services do you provide?

"Industrial valve replacement, repair, automation and specialty welding as well as PRV/SRV testing and repair under our NBIC VR program. We are an NBIC R, VR, NR, and T/O certificate holder."

Who are your primary customers?

"Bechtel, Westinghouse, Southern Co., Duke Energy, Dominion Power, New Castle Generating Station, Dominion Power, and PSEG"

When and how did you start your business?

"'The Dupill Group was founded by Raymond “Pete” Dupill in 1985 as a sales agency that tailored to the Nuclear Power Industry and related Industrial markets to include Power Generation, Oil & Gas, Refining, etc. Chad and Cornell Dupill purchased the business in 2009 and started the Services division that same year working in the Oil & Gas market as a 24 hour mechanical service provider. We quickly grew to what we are today as the Dupill Group (FCCI, DG Services, & DG Nuclear) that sells and services complementary products such as Valves, Actuators, and Remote Valve Operators. With our continued focus on quality and growth we developed our quality program which includes ASME NBIC VR, T/O, NR, and R stamp certifications that supports both our valve repair and specialty welding services."

Business Growth Challenges - Growing Through Challenge and Change

What were some of the challenges in starting your business?

"Capital. As a small business it is difficult to acquire the necessary capital to finance growth for employees, overhead, and equipment. It has also been difficult to find the “RIGHT” people for the job that share our core values such as God, Family, and company."

What is the key to the success of your business?

"Our foundation. We believe in our core values and believe that with the right people focused on a specific mission we can accomplish anything together. We also strongly believe in small unit leadership. We train and instill in our people the ability to make decisions at their level based on our Military background. We will never compromise our integrity for a quick buck. We say what we mean and mean what we say!"

What lessons learned can you share with people to make their business succeed?

"The importance of perseverance! Things will inevitably get tough and will not always go your way. The path to success is full of disappointments, failures, and uncertainty. I truly believe that without our failures we would never be where we are today. Believe in yourselves and your team. With the right people and mentality I truly believe that you can accomplish anything! Never give up."

What pitfalls should they avoid?

"Be careful who you get in business with. Make sure that your ideals and values match that of your partners or your business will pay the price in the long run. Listen to your gut. If you feel something is wrong it more than likely is."

What other information about you and your business would you like to share with the NaVOBA community?

"We at the Dupill Group believe in building leaders. Although profitability is important it is not the most important thing."
